Tomatin Distillery has a number of amazing whiskies and the 18-Year-Old Single Malt has been awarded ‘Double Gold’ at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition. How amazing is this?
I got a chance to nose and taste the 18-Year-Old. A 46% single malt with a final maturation in Oloroso Sherry butts.
The shape of the bottle is already telling me this will be a smooth and sweet whisky to drink. Perfect for a perfect day in the garden, with some sunshine and grass between your toes. And all you can hear are the birds and a small breeze ….. enjoy.
The tasting notes:
- Color: Lovely golden
- Nose: Honey, citrus, red fruit, strawberries, green apples, cinnamon, basil, raisins, a forest after the rain, oranges, a hint of grapefruit, warm dark, pure chocolate, sweet oak, lemon and a splash of lime
- Taste: Red fruit, raspberries, strawberries, sweet honey, walnuts, dark chocolate covered with warm oranges and lemon peel, the complexity of spices and a compliment of citrus
- Finish: Very pleasant, soft, dry and sweet
Suggestions: No water needed for this whisky has an amazing body.
Grade: 8.5 out of 10
