The Bruichladdich 15 yr old 2nd edition, Hill of the sea

TIme for The Bruichladdich 15 yr old 2nd edition. In my last order I received a sample of this Islay Whisky. I have to admit, that I don’t know how to pronounce this name. I tried, but if it sounds right, I don’t know. Lucky for me you can read it!

The name Bruichladdich is pronounced ‘broech-laddie” and comes from the Gaelic. Words from these languages often have multiple meanings and Bruichladdich means “hill of the sea” or “hill that looks over the sea’. Really, the place and the distillery, built on a hillside, with views over Loch Indaal. Never been there, but I’ve seen some wonderful pictures!

  • Name: Bruichladdich
  • Type: Single Malt
  • Country: Scotland
  • Price per standard amount: € 50,00
This whisky has an oak finish. It has an intriguing nose with a bit of floral notes, apple and a little banana. A sweet malt flavor, tropical fruit, caramel, vanilla oak and pleasant sea notes, salty, seaweed. The finish is very subtle and long ….. It a great feeling for the tongue. You should try to dip your tongue in this whisky for a while… you might like it. I did! And I liked it.

  • Color: Light amber
  • Nose: Floural, apple, oak, raisins, peppermint, powerful nose
  • Taste: Peat …  oily and a little sweetness
  • Finish: long and warm, very nice

Something to know …. The Bruichladdich 15 yr old 2nd edition is matured in Bourbon Casks for 15 Years, then mature enhanced in a “Premier Grand Cru Classe” Sauternes casks for 25 long weeks.

This is only a sample I had.. but thinking about buying a full bottle! .. A sample isn’t enough for me, after tasting this surprising “Hill of the sea” whisky!

Suggestions: Pure…. or very small drops of water.

Grade

I give this whisky an 8 out of 10.
