You are probably very curious about the vintage after reading about the Benromach 10 yr. I was born in the year 1979 and consider myself vintage. Flipping the 9 and you get 1976.
1976 is the year, Apple Computer Company is founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne and 1976 is the year Sony brings the Betamax cassette on the market ….
Let’s talk about whisky!
- Name: Benromach Vintage 1976
- Country: Scotland
- Type: Single Malt
- Price: € 500,-
Remember, I don’t look at the price of a whisky. It’s the nosing and tasting that completes my opinion. The nose on the vintage has another experience if you compare the smell with the 10yr old. Much deeper and much more complex. I can smell a challenge.
- Color: Very reflecting
- Nose: Caramel, toffee, dark chocolate covered with dark honey and filled with creamy oranges. A hint of vanilla sirup accompanied with nuts and sherry sweetness
- Taste: Soft toffee and chocolate, but white this time. Honey, oily woody, licorice and something I just can’t get my finger on …. sweet and malty
- Finish: Lovely medium and the taste of toffee is hanging around in the mouth
I can tell this: I love this one. I love this even better then the 10 yr old. But never the less, both are amazing. And thank you Jan Beek, I wouldn’t had the oppertunity without you!
Suggestions: Not a drop! Trust me. Fine like it is!
Grade: I give this whisky a 9 out of 10
