Fettercairn Distillery embarks on an exciting new journey, with the launch of its first ever collection of small batch single malt whiskies. The Warehouse Collection pays homage to the places where Fettercairn comes of age, the 14 dunnage warehouses which boast incredible scarce treasures in the form of maturing stock.
Limited to 3,600 bottles, the first in the Collection, Warehouse 2 Batch No.001 brings together five different cask styles all filled back in 2010 and matured in Warehouse 2, where high humidity combined with a relatively cool and temperate environment makes it mark on the maturing spirit.
John Dewar & Sons unveiled its latest expression from The Golden Dram – Aberfeldy 15 Years Old, finished in French wine casks from Pomerol, Bordeaux.
The finest quality red wine casks from Pomerol were selected to finish the new limited-edition expression, ensuring that the wood complements and elevates Aberfeldy’s distillery character, not mask it. Initially spending 15 years in a combination of Bourbon re-fill and re-char casks, the whisky has undergone a second maturation period of around 4-5 months, adding an extra dimension of flavour. Malt Master, Stephanie MacLeod carefully monitored maturation and flavour development within each cask until the desired flavours had been achieved.
The Harrow Whisky Festival was held on 15 – 16 January 2016. It was the very first time this festival took place and I could tell from day one, that this was very exciting for those who organized it. The location where this whisky event was held was Grim’s Dyke Hotel, a fantastic looking hotel with some impressive architecture, based on architect Norman Shaw’s designs, famous for pioneering a particular style of old English house with a Gothic influence.
A must see for those who love TV series like Dr Who and more for this place is popular as a shooting location for series and movies. When you listen very carefully, you can hear: exterminate, exterminate in the hallway.
