Looking across the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran from the Ayrshire mainland on a clear day fascinated me as a child. Trips to Arran with my family and school excursions felt like I was a million miles away from anywhere.
On a rare Scottish sunny day, the Isle of Arran resembles the Caribbean with palm trees dotted around and blue shimmering seas at every turn. Arran is an Island I had grown to love and that love affair has never ended. It has only got stronger since the Isle of Arran Distillers were born.

An evening with remarkable whiskies. That Boutique-y Whisky Company is an independent bottler which offers stunning whiskies from world-renowned brands and distilleries. This evening I had the pleasure to try 5 of them, online with other whisky enthusiasts. The foreplay towards this evening was tough, very tough.
This was an amazing evening and with great hosts. As ever, we all had a lot of fun while nosing and tasting the fantastic five.
Aberfeldy 12 Years, it has been a while since I had a glass of this whisky. Lucky for you I wrote down the tasting notes for myself to share with the world. Aberfeldy has a great range of whisky and this 12 year old lad is one of them.
I wrote down in the tasting notes:
“While pouring the whisky in the Glencairn glass, you could smell the tropics. The birds playing in the garden, looking for food and chirping with joy. That is how I felt, chirping with joy”.
Saskatoon, SK, February 23, 2017 – LB Distillers is pleased and excited to announce the release of their first malt whiskies. Release number 1 is a Lucky Bastard Straight Malted Rye Whisky and release number 2 is a Lucky Bastard Single Malt Whisky.
The whiskies will be available exclusively at LB Distillers and exclusively to our customers who entered the Lucky Bastard Whisky Lottery.
Given the high anticipation and demand for the very limited supply of our whisky, we thought it best to have customers enter an e-mail lottery allowing the winners a chance to purchase a bottle without having to stand outside in line during a Saskatchewan winter.

Longmorn The Distiller’s Choice is a well-balanced single malt with incredible depth of flavour, presenting notes of delicate spice, sweet treacle toffee and caramel – the result of maturation in a range of exceptional American oak, ex-Oloroso sherry and traditional oak casks. The expression is a new release from Longmorn as part of a renewed focus from Chivas Brothers on the distillery, which is often referred to as Speyside’s best-kept secret.
