The 38-year-old whisky is the latest addition to the ‘Private Collection’ range
Single malt whisky creator Gordon & MacPhail has announced its Spring Collection, unveiling a series of stunning whiskies which draw upon the unrivalled depth and breadth of knowledge the company has gained from maturing spirit from over 100 Scottish distilleries.
One of the highlights of the Spring Collection is the Gordon & MacPhail 1981 from Coleburn Distillery which is the latest edition to the ‘Private Collection’ range. This exceptional whisky has been maturing in the company’s specially selected cask at its warehouse in Elgin for 38 years. Spirit from Coleburn Distillery – mothballed in 1985 – was traditionally used in blending but Gordon & MacPhail carefully matched the spirit with a refill Sherry hogshead to create this extraordinary and very rare single malt.
Richard and Stuart Urquhart
To get the opportunity to try two drams created by twins, doesn’t come by often. Twins always have something mysterious, something unique, fascinating really. Stuart Urquhart and Richard Urquhart born in 1961, came to the decision to bottle 57yr old twin casks, selected by their Grandfather and nurtured by their father and their three siblings.
A challenge, you can call it science even. Stuart and Richard, twins, but unique in their own way, made sure that the casks they chose, reflected their character.
Longmorn has launched The Distiller’s Choice, a smooth, triple-cask matured single malt Scotch whisky, offering a new interpretation of the brand’s renowned classic toffee flavours.
Longmorn The Distiller’s Choice is a well-balanced single malt with incredible depth of flavour, presenting notes of delicate spice, sweet treacle toffee and caramel – the result of maturation in a range of exceptional American oak, ex-Oloroso sherry and traditional oak casks. The expression is a new release from Longmorn as part of a renewed focus from Chivas Brothers on the distillery, which is often referred to as Speyside’s best-kept secret.
