This was my first Harrow Whisky Festival visit and this venue is a wonderful place for such an event. The surroundings are breathtaking and looking back, I wish I had planned for more time around the event.
Nevertheless, I arrived about 20 minutes early to the start of the event and I had the opportunity to chat to some of the locals who were at the start of their adventure into the whisky world. Events like this around the country are providing a wonderful opportunity for many individuals to divulge into whiskies that they would never have thought about even trying.
During my stay at the Harrow Whisky Festival, in January, I had the pleasure to have a Gin nip. Makar Glasgow Gin that is. This gin has his spirit roots at the Glasgow Distillery only since 2014.
I’ve looked up the word Makar and Makar is a term for a poet and a poet this gin is. This gin is one of the finest I ever tasted. I can recommend this to everyone. It is an amazing step for your palate to take but worth it.
The bottle itself is elegant and shows beauty with a luxurious deep blue metallic-finish label with copper highlights featuring hand-sketched.
The Harrow Whisky Festival was held on 15 – 16 January 2016. It was the very first time this festival took place and I could tell from day one, that this was very exciting for those who organized it. The location where this whisky event was held was Grim’s Dyke Hotel, a fantastic looking hotel with some impressive architecture, based on architect Norman Shaw’s designs, famous for pioneering a particular style of old English house with a Gothic influence.
A must see for those who love TV series like Dr Who and more for this place is popular as a shooting location for series and movies. When you listen very carefully, you can hear: exterminate, exterminate in the hallway.
A new Whisky Festival is coming soon to London – the Harrow Whisky Festival. This fabulous festival will take place in January 2016 at a stunning location, Grimsdyke, just 12 miles from London.
