Douglas Laing & Co, the family Scotch Whisky firm, today unveils its festive offering – Big Peat Christmas 2016, an “All Islay”, Cask Strength Limited Edition.
The new release marks the 6th Big Peat Christmas Edition, though this particular bottling is unlike any bottling ever released by the firm before. Traditionally a marriage of primarily Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen, this one-off Big Peat Limited Edition vatting includes all active distilleries on Islay, plus the long-closed, elusive and exclusive Port Ellen.
As we gather to celebrate the longest day – midsummer, Independent bottler Wemyss Malts releases a gathering of nine new single cask whiskies ranging from 18 to 27 years old. As always the descriptive names of these whiskies are based on the flavours and aromas discovered by the Wemyss tasting panel.
Whisky and water, scotch on the rocks – now there is a new perfect match for the nation’s favourite tipple as Scotland gears up to celebrate its Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design in 2016.
The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, which takes place in Scotland’s most prolific whisky producing region, will show how the multi-million pound global industry has been built on the exact principles which will be nationally recognized over the next 12 months.
