Suntory Toki Whisky

As many of you might know, Suntory Toki is a blended whisky from Suntory’s three distilleries, Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita.

Thinking about Japanese Whisky warms me up from the inside. I have never had the opportunity to try this whisky, until one day. A colleague of mine bought a bottle and gave me a sample of this liquid to try.

Toki means when and when has a connection with time. In other words Toki = Time. You might say Suntory Toki Whisky, is a whisky you should drink in peace and harmony. Take the time to enjoy every smell, nip,m think about the past, the future and what it might bring. It might surprise you what the past will give you in the future.

I can’t tell you how to drink your whisky, for there are loads of enthusiasts who drink whisky with ice of water even. However I would advise you to drink this whisky neat, no ice or water. Just twirl the glass a couple of times, smell and twirl again. This gives the aroma a boost, it might surprise you. What I also do is adding a drop of Toki on my wrist and rup this gently in circles, smell! Sounds weird? Just try and you might think differently after.

Suntory Toki Whisky – 43%

  • Color: Sunset gold
  • Nose: Sweet green apples, very soft peaches, pears, basil, sultana’s soaked in a bath of rose paddles, honey, fresh vanilla, grapes and a hint of cinnamon
  • Palate: Spicy, different from what the nose tells you. There are green apples, marzipan, vanilla, ginger, red and black pepper wrapped in a sweet lavender field
  • Finish: Spicy, sweet and lingering for a long time after the last sip

The blend is bottled at 43% ABV.

I would like to make a suggestion for pairing; Goat cheese or weird enough: Twix.
