Review: Gordon & MacPhail MacDuff Distillery 1997

MacDuff Distillery 1997, a 20 year old single malt whisky from the Scottish Highlands. This beautiful whisky was distilled on Friday, 26 September 1997 and bottled on Thursday, 21 June 2018.

The casktype that was used for this whisky was a refill Sherry Hogshead and you can feel it! The outturn of the MacDuff Distillery 1997 release is  207 bottles.

This whisky is part of the Gordon & MacPhail range to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Connoisseurs Choice. A range that remains true to George Urquhart’s original vision and philosophy.

The tastingnotes:

MacDuff Distillery 1997 – 56%

  • Color: Copper-gold
  • Nose: Sweet, soft, pineapple, mandarin, oranges lime, passion fruit, honeycomb, raisins, avocado, forest fruit, sherry-notes, raspberries, salty rocks after a rainfall, there is pepper, warm appels and vanilla
  • Taste: Spicy, creamy warm custard pudding, red fruit, cherries, strawberries, forest fruit mixed with a splash of citrus, lime, fresh cinnamon, complexity of Indian cake, sticky, baked sweet apples and oily
  • Finish: Warm, soft and with a hint of spice-mix
