Review: Gordon & MacPhail Clynelish 1989

Clynelish Distillery 1989, a 28 year old single malt scotch whisky from the Highlands. This stunning single malt was distilled on Wednesday, November 15 1989 and bottled on Tuesday, June 26 2018.

The casktype that was used for this whisky was a refill American hogshead. The outturn of the Clynelish Distillery 1989 release is 221 bottles.

This whisky is part of the Gordon & MacPhail range to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Connoisseurs Choice. A range that remains true to George Urquhart’s original vision and philosophy.

  • Color: Sweet gold
  • Nose: Sweet, citrus hints, mandarin, marzipan, fresh red apples, soft pears, flower honey, sultana’s, forest fruit juice, soft pepper, hints of salty peanuts and mints
  • Taste: Peach, sweet, fresh citrus fruits, lemon, soft soaked red apples, vanilla, honey, complexity of ripe red fruit mixed with the freshness of peach, pears and hints of nuts lingering in a bath of mandarin and grapefruit
  • Finish: Sweet, fresh and lingering
