Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival offers visitors a unique opportunity to get hands-on in whisky-making process

Visitors attending the world’s leading Scotch whisky festival are being given a unique and exclusive opportunity to get hands-on with the distilling process. Speyside Distillery is offering just 10 people the chance to work alongside its distillers to produce spirit when it throws open its doors during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.

 

Only two people each day will be invited to join the team at the artisan distillery near Kingussie – home to SPEY from Speyside Distillery and Beinn Dubh single malts – to get an in-depth understanding of its traditional hand-crafted distillation processes.

Gin-ovation: major new gin festival is launched

A gin festival is being launch this summer in the heart of Scotland’s most famous and prolific malt whisky-producing region. The team behind the Spirit of Speyside brand, which already stages the highly successful spirits events, is now celebrating the area’s rapidly-growing gin industry.

Spirit of Speyside: The Gin Experience takes place from July 12 to 14 and will offer a unique opportunity to taste locally produced gin and meet the makers.

Tomatin release the newest edition of the warehouse 6 collection, the 1975

Tomatin, the award-winning Highland distillery has announced the release of its third expression of the acclaimed Warehouse 6 Collection; 1975.

Distilled on 8th December 1975, this precious spirit has been gently maturing for the past 43 years in Warehouse 6, laid low on antique wooden rails above cool earthen floor and stacked single level, in a traditional dunnage warehouse.  Nestled in a quiet corner of the distillery, Warehouse 6 houses the distillery’s most treasured casks. Review: Gordon & MacPhail Pulteney Distillery 1998

Pulteney Distillery 1998, a 19 year old single malt whisky from the Scottish Highlands. This beautiful whisky was distilled on Wednesday, 26 august 1998 and bottled on Thursday, 21 June 2018.

The casktype that was used for this whisky was a first fill bourbon barrel.The outturn of the Pulteney Distillery 1998 release is  192 bottles.

Benromach weds heavily peated barley with Sherry casks for limited release

The Benromach Distillery Company Ltd has announced the release of Benromach Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured (59.9% ABV), a rich and intense limited-batch expression. Carefully handcrafted using heavily peated Scottish barley, just 6,500 bottles are available in selected markets worldwide from 8th March 2019.

Matured in First Fill Sherry hogsheads and laid down in 2010 before being bottled in 2018, Benromach Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured offers whisky lovers elegant fruit flavours while heightening the smoky notes Benromach is known for.

Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caching returns

Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caching returns for the 20th Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.

Similar to geo-caching, but with whisky, a trail of Angels’ Nectar Whisky Caches will be hidden across Speyside during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. Guests will be able to find the whisky filled caches via a series of clues after registering for the event via the Spirit of Speyside web site. The first to find each Angels’ Nectar Whisky Cache will be rewarded with a 200ml bottles of Angels’ Nectar Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, perfect for sharing.

Review: Gordon & MacPhail MacDuff Distillery 1997

MacDuff Distillery 1997, a 20 year old single malt whisky from the Scottish Highlands. This beautiful whisky was distilled on Friday, 26 September 1997 and bottled on Thursday, 21 June 2018.

The casktype that was used for this whisky was a refill Sherry Hogshead and you can feel it! The outturn of the MacDuff Distillery 1997 release is  207 bottles.
