Time to try a whisky that is closer to home. A Dutch one, a single malt.
A Dutch whisky, fresh from the distillery Zuidam. I have got to know the Frysk Hynder Whisky a while ago and every time i nosing and tasting this Frisian Whisky, it’s just never the same. It’s time to try another one from The Netherlands.
- Name: Millstone
- Country: Netherlands
- Type: Single Malt
- Price: € 46,50
Hopping to interesting history. Zuidam Distillers exists 38 years and was founded in 1975 by Fred van Zuidam. In 1975 he bought a patch of land in Baarle Nassau and he built up his own distillery. He bought some used boilers, tanks and the rest he needed. Fred van Zuidam wanted to make the best quality liqueur of The Netherlands. Meanwhile Zuidam Distillers has become a traditional company of stature with spirits.
- Color: Dark gold
- Nose: Fruity, traces of honey, wood and vanilla, forest fresh chopped wood and a sweet smell as well
- Taste: Vanilla, wood, citrus fruit, mandarin, tropical sweetness, dark spices and honey and a small trace of smokiness

I was surprised about this whisky. It’s lovely and a charming whisky, a gentlemen if you like. A real whisky if you’d like to Go Dutch! A few drops on a dutch “stroopwafel” is something I would recommend if you are in for an experiment.
Suggestions: Just Pure, no water….
I give this whisky an 8 out of 10.
