Lost Distillery scoops master at global whisky awards

The Lost Distillery Company’s blended Scotch malt whisky, Lossit, has been awarded a prestigious Master award at the Global Scotch Whisky Masters 2016.

Independent Scotch whisky producer, The Lost Distillery Company hand-crafts present day expressions of legendary whiskies from long closed distilleries across Scotland. As part of the company’s Classic range, Lossit is a marriage of aged single malts styled on the long lost distillery in Ballygrant on Islay, which closed in 1867. It’s a rich, peaty whisky offering a very unusual balance, of oily sweetness, zest and spice.

The Lost Distillery Company’s collection, is featured across three ranges of blended malt Scotch whiskies – Classic, Archivist and Vintage. These include revamped spirits from lost distilleries such as the delicate and refined Auchnagie, Towiemore, Stratheden, Jericho, Gerston through to the bold and peaty award-winning Lossit.

Over 100 Scotch whisky distilleries have permanently closed in the last century. Despite being renowned for their excellent quality whisky, the distilleries were largely closed due to the effects of war and politics. The Lost Distillery Company brings the stories of famed distilleries and their people to life, to offer hand crafted blended malt Scotch whiskies. Steeped in history, these malts are modern interpretations of lost whisky legends.

Scott Watson, Co-Founder of Crucial Drinks and The Lost Distillery Company, said:

“We are truly honoured that Lossit has been recognised so highly at the Global Scotch Whisky Masters.

“We’re obsessive about craft and uncompromising when it comes to whisky quality. Each resurrected brand is the subject of an in-depth research project to establish the original character of the long lost distilleries and how it might taste today”

“Lossit is a remarkable, robust marriage of aged single malts that offers the perfect toast to the heritage of a forgotten liquid and a renowned distillery on Islay.”

The Lost Distillery Company is owned by parent organisation, Crucial Drinks, a boutique drinks business based in Scotland specialising in world class whisky and rum with unique brand stories. Its award-winning portfolio of luxury spirit brands also includes Grenada Six Saints Rum and West Indies Rum and Cane Merchants.
