LittleMill Flashblog,

unnamedI couldn’t wait to take part of this special occassion, the first ever Whisky Flash Blog ever.

When I saw this on Social Media, presented by The Whisky Wire. Littlemill, the 25 Year Old release, from the iconic Littlemill Lowland distillery, which is limited to just 1500 bottles, I was excited, just like the rest of the bloggers around the globe who were selected to join in.

Who wouldn’t be!

Master blenders John Petersen and Michael Henry have dipped and nosed the remaining casks from 1989 and 1990, and from these they have selected and married together the 10 casks which they believe best represent the quality and style of whisky from the Littlemill Distillery.

The liquid was originally laid down in a mixture of the finest American and European Oak casks and has been married together for a period of finishing in first fill European Oloroso Sherry casks.

The sample was received last week, just in time. The nosing and tasting, together with my husband was a blast last night on a lazy evening while watching The Walking Dead.  I can’t say it was a fabulous combination, but is was worth to try. Who things I was looking forward to for a long time.

Let’s move on to the tasting notes:

  • Color: Lovely golden
  • Nose: Vanilla, sultana’s very spicy, a joy for the tongue. Tropical hints, pineapple, green apples covered with caramel and crushed dark soft chocolate.
  • Taste: Sweetness of the apple, the tropics, red fruit, cherrie, hints of spiciness and a complexity citrus, mandarin and grapfruit. Very surprising
  • Finish:  Medium warm and de spices are lingering

This whisky, is one, which took some time to come loose. It needed to linger for a while, before the explosion. And it succeeded for sure. LittleMill, 25 Year Old release was surprisingly a hidden lady with a spicy touch. It is  a shame this was just the sample, otherwise the whole bottle would be empty before you could say:

Suggestions: No water is needed. Just nose and taste it like the whisky comes from the bottle. Even when it is 15.4%.

Grade: an 8.5 out of 10

Wow, wait, but what is a FlashBlog? On this day everyone who had the pleasure to nose and to taste this whisky, is sharing this on Social Media. Look them up using the following hashtag: #Littlemill and enjoy every blog and message.

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”

Thank you Steve!
