I found a tasting note, one from the Lagavulin 16yr old … a lovely whisky that was (is). What I remember is that this 16yr old is one that is so elegant you should dress to impress this beauty. Unfortunately I wasn’t dressed for the drinking occasion at the time, but enjoyed it with classic style ..
.. like a whisky girl does. But next time, I will enjoy the Lagavulin 16yr dressed like a real queen. That is a promise.
- Name: Lagavulin 16yr
- Country: Islay, Scotland
- Type: Single Malt
- Price per standard amount: € 50,-
The Lagavulin Distillery is situated on the lovely island Islay and founded officially in 1816, but a lot has happened ….. but let’s go to the tasting notes from a hidden place. Strangely the note was hidden in my sock drawer. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know either.
- Color: Nice fresh gold
- Nose: Sweet soft spices, woody, smoky, smashed red fruit, hints of sherry, creamy vanilla ice-cream and even traces of salt.
- Taste: Vanilla with small bits of chopped white and dark chocolate, covered with soft smooth silky red fruit syrup. A complexity of spicy herbs, salty.
- Finish: Lovely spicy with a smoky and elegant finish
Suggestions: No water. I have tried one drop, but it was not meant to be. Not my style.
Grade: I give this whisky a 8.5 out of 10
