Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban

The Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is the next whisky on the list.  Glenmorangie  is pronounced as “glen moorendzjie” and comes from the Gaelic, meaning “valley of peace”.

  • Name: Glenmorangie
  • Type: Single Malt
  • Country: Scotland
  • Price per standard amount: € 40,00
With the hints of chocolate and mint, it’s really a valley of peace. Closing the eyes and imagine, yourself sitting at a beach, breathing in and breathing out …. Just be careful that the oranges don’t fall on your head. You might get sticky.

If the stickiness happens, just set your thoughts to the Tarlogie Springs, the water source that provides the water for Glenmorangie. The Tarlogie Springs lies in the Tarlogie Hills above the distillery.

The darkest and most intense whisky in the “extra-matured” range of Glenmorangie, Quinta Ruban has aged 10 years in American white oak barrels and then poured in dedicated geslecteerde Ruby port pipes from the Quintas, wine estates in Portugal.

The result is an exceptional whisky with a refined taste that is both complex and elegant.

  • Color: Pink Gold
  • Nose: Mint, chocolate, mandarins, wood, walnuts and lovely spices such as pepper and nutmeg
  • Taste: Just like the nose, mint, chocolate and walnuts, flowers,  and sweet oranges
  • Finish: Long and refreshing

Some history, The whisky production started here in 1843 when William Matheson bought a farm at this location. and the Morangie brewery transformed into a distillery with two second-stills that were previously used to create gin.

Suggestions: Pure or two drops of water.

I give this whisky an 8 out of 10.
