What is the best thing about whisky? That is a question that kept me occupied for quite some time now. Did you ever wonder? The first thing you see of course is the bottle, that’s logical, but next to the label and brand, you see the color of the whisky. It is the first thing you see when filling a glass and color is not that unimportant, as some might think. The color says something about the whisky, about the smell and the palate it will give you.
There are dozen of even thousands of stories about whisky and the experiences people are having when drinking their favorite. But is the very best thing about whisky, color? The more appealing the color looks, the more interesting whisky might be? The color can give you a lot of information about whisky, a darker color could mean the liquid will be more intense for the taste buds.
A team of glassmakers has launched the perfect gift for whisky lovers – an angel filled with a dram they can drink. Stirling giftware company Angels’ Share Glass created the refillable angel as an addition to their signature range following customer requests. Customers told Managing Director Karen Somerville they loved collecting the firm’s glass angels – filled and sealed with the `Angels’ Share’ of whisky – but also wanted drinkable editions.
Mrs Somerville said: “Every time I met customers at whisky festivals and events, they would tell me how much they loved our award-winning angels but wanted one they could open and drink too.
This is a whisky I would recommend to everyone. Especially to those who never had a drop of whisky or says to dislike whisky. Not that long ago, someone told me out of the blue, she didn’t like whisky, at all! I know, its unbelievable, how and why, questions remained unanswered.
I just can’t imagine, that someone doesn’t like this spirit for it’s lovely. Aberfeldy for example is a golden dram that suits everyone, just give it some time, air and love. I am convinced that she and others would love it …
Benromach Distillery is celebrating success at the prestigious Global Whisky Icons Awards with Susan Colville winning the coveted title of Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year.
Announced in a ceremony in London’s Honourable Artillery Company last night (28th March 2019), the awards, which are organised by Whisky Magazine, pay tribute to the expertise that is poured into every bottle of whisky made around the world. Only those working in the industry can nominate an individual or brand, with the final winners chosen by a panel of expert judges.
Visitors attending the world’s leading Scotch whisky festival are being given a unique and exclusive opportunity to get hands-on with the distilling process. Speyside Distillery is offering just 10 people the chance to work alongside its distillers to produce spirit when it throws open its doors during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
Only two people each day will be invited to join the team at the artisan distillery near Kingussie – home to SPEY from Speyside Distillery and Beinn Dubh single malts – to get an in-depth understanding of its traditional hand-crafted distillation processes.
A gin festival is being launch this summer in the heart of Scotland’s most famous and prolific malt whisky-producing region. The team behind the Spirit of Speyside brand, which already stages the highly successful spirits events, is now celebrating the area’s rapidly-growing gin industry.
Spirit of Speyside: The Gin Experience takes place from July 12 to 14 and will offer a unique opportunity to taste locally produced gin and meet the makers.
