I was very enthusiastic ( read curious ) about the Bowmore 18yr. I couldn’t wait to try this one. A bottle was standing for so long in sight. I just couldn’t resist the temptation any more …
Quite different from the Bowmore 12yr old. This particular whisky is a relatively mild whisky, the opposite from the 18 yr old Bowmore.
But still, I can find a salty touch in both of them. That makes these two both different and both very lovely.
Bowmore is a fantastic whisky. No matter if it’s the 12, 15, 18 yr, You should almost be ashamed if you’ve never, ever tried one of the range Bowmore has to offer.
- Color: Honey Gold
- Nose: Vanilla, pepperish, dried coconut, banana, citrus, lemon, honey, hints of bitterness, antique wash and smoky
- Taste: Lovely, sweet and complexity of fruitiness and pepper. Tingling on the tongue and even a bit salty, peaty, oily and citrus fruit
- Finish: Medium with a pleasant stinging sensation
I have to confess. I almost never ….. add water in a whisky that I like from the first scent. But with this one, an exception was needed. Fantastic purely, but whoa if you just add one or two little drops of water slowly in the whisky, a tremendous aroma just hits you right in the nose.
Suggestion: Pure, but with two drops of water, it’s even more aromatic.
I give this whisky an 8.5 out of 10.
