I received a lovely sample of Big Peat Christmas Edition 2012. I’ve asked people on Facebook and Twitter what they think about this funny looking Bigpeat Christmasman.
The most of them were very enthusiastic and a bit jealous, but why?
Small Batch from Douglas Laing. In a limited edition and at cask strength … I know from others that the Christmas Edition from last year, Edition 2011 was very very very good! So this made me curious.
Just look at the label! The label is already very special. This man standig in the wind is a positive sign of silliness and creativity. And I love it, Christmas Edition or not… just look at his face, facing the wind!
I’m going to taste and nose (he’s got a big nose) this whisky. And hopefully the weather will be as windy as seen on the label! That will make the tasting a lot of more fun ….
Nosing and tasting with sweet Big Peat!
- Name: Big Peat
- Type: Blended Malt
- Country: Scotland
- Price per standard amount: € 48,00
The BigPeat Christmas Edition 2012, gave me a nice feeling in my mouth. The peat and smoke were clearer and clearer by the second. Very nice actually. I think this whisky would be a nice combination with large pieces of chocolate, pure chocolate.
- Colour: Pale gold
- Nose: Caramel, vanilla and a little Toffee?
- Taste: Lots of peat smoke! Slightly dry and nutty character, Toffee
- Finish: Long, hot and spicy
Suggestions: Pure…. or very, very small drops of water.
I give this whisky an 8 out of 10.
